‘WH’ questions of Why You Wander

Who am I?

Rohini, just an Indian girl for whom travel was never a priority.

I don’t have a fancy story on how I quit my 9-5 job to travel either. All I have is a deep interest in travel which I am achieving by different means of smart travel.

I am not an extrovert but I believe I express myself the best when I write.

For a little background, after completing my bachelors in Engineering I started working as a Software Engineer. After 2 years I took an opportunity to work in Australia.  That is when I started traveling, very late to the standards of the Travel industry. In 2012 I moved to New Zealand where I worked and traveled for a year. This is where I started my Solo travels and it still remains as one of the best decisions I ever made. Now, I am back in Australia working and traveling my way around.

How I Wander

Why do I Travel & Why do I Blog

I know it is a tricky one, let me try.

Short answer,

Inspire, Inform & Evolve.

Long answer,

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.

Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

Why the name?

Even though travel blogs primarily focus on planning, I still like to embrace the uncertainties and unplanned nature of travel. The name emphasises my interest in keeping it a little informal and aimless, just like a wandering mind.

Why do I Travel

When do I travel?

Since I work full time, I travel during breaks. I maximise public holidays by adding leave days. I visit my sister in the US and my Mother back in India which usually get extended with some sightseeing as well. Since I have a highly demanding daytime job, I try to make the best out of my breaks by traveling efficiently – the tips of which I am yet to share, stay tuned.
